“What shall we do tonight?” he asked the chair across from him. “Mrs. Nichols knows about the ball…” He drummed his fingers on the arms of the chairs. “We could read.” His nose wrinkled at the thought. “No, I do not wish to read either,” he said as if agreeing with his non-existent companion. He was far too restless to read tonight.
Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

Poor Mr. Bingley! He really isn’t much of a reader!
He is definitely more of a doer. 🙂
I agree with jbrand… poor Mr. Bingley. Reading is NOT his thing. So what does he do on a rainy day? I assume it is raining as it rained before the ball. Or it may be earlier than that and he is just bored. Darcy can tease him about what he does when he is bored. LOL! This was a cute scene. Bless his heart.
Today is Remembrance Day or for us Veterans Day. Let’s give thanks for those who fought for our freedoms. Blessings, everyone, stay safe, and healthy.
It’s not raining as this is a different ball than the one in the book. It’s after that ball. He has been to town and returned – alone. It’s evening, and because he is all alone at Netherfield, he is BORED. 🙂 He does find some ways to entertain himself. I’m not sure all the staff appreciate his efforts, however. LOL
Absolutely! We should all be giving thanks for those who stand on guard to keep us free.
