In this issue of the Broadsheet you will find:

An excerpt from my current work in progress, His Father’s Last Gift
Info about the two books I have on sale for $0.99 this month, a couple of other books that have been reduced in price, and one boxset that is on sale for this weekend only.
A link to a multi-author promotion I am taking part in
And in the something fun section at the end of the newsletter you will find, a music video that has been paired with an excerpt from one of the books in the boxset I have on sale this weekend. (It features one of my all-time favourite troublemakers. ;))
I thought we would start this week with a lovely song from a screen version of my favourite fairytale and a few lines from a story where a lady with little by way of fortune finds an unlikely “fairy godmother” who provides her with the opportunity to marry her very own prince, I mean, colonel. ๐
Not an Heiress is part of my Dash of Darcy and Companions collection and is a sequel to Discovering Mr. Darcy. This novella is available as a single title and also as part of Cottage Collection 1.
I would say Not an Heiress falls in the realm of being rom-com and pushes at the upper end of my PG-13 rating since an actual compromise does happen. (Not on the page, but it does happen.)
Currently, you can get Cottage Collection 1 for the same price as Not an Heiress by itself. Cottage Collection 2 is on sale for 40% off at Kobo, so I decided to lower the price of Collection 1 at the same time. More info and links can be found on the Current Book Promotions page.
PUBLISHED TO YOUTUBE ON MAY 15, 2020, BY LUKA SULIC
This was another one of those just happened to see it recommended on YouTube songs. I have listened to a lot of Luka’s music both as a solo player and as part of 2Cellos, and I have like nearly everything I have heard. This was no exception. This song is originally by a heavy metal band, so I was interested to see how the song was played on a cello. The results are simply beautiful in my opinion, and I had to share it with you.
I have paired it with a chapter from Waking to Mr. Darcy because in this story nothing else matters as much as seeing to Elizabeth’s well-being.
Darcy rolled the sleeves of his shirt, which were several inches too long, so that Elizabethโs hands were visible. He straightened the collar and pulled the bedclothes over her, making sure to place her hands and arms outside the quilt as he tucked it around her small frame. He brushed a stray strand of hair away from her pale face. She was still not warm, but she was clean, and she was dry, and Darcy hoped that the two would be enough to stave off any fever. โI am sorry,โ he repeated yet again. How many times had he said those words? He felt as if he could never say them enough. โIf there were any other wayโฆ.โ He sighed. โBut there was not. I shall be good to you.โ He gathered her clothes. โI am sorry,โ he whispered it once more before he exited the room.
โYou still do not look well,โ said Bingley from where he sat near the fire. โAlthough you are not so pale as you were.โ He tipped his head. โIn fact, you look rather flushed.โ
Darcy chose not to acknowledge the comment or the teasing tone in which it was said. He was feeling rather flummoxed. His heart had already begun to betray him before this evening, but now it seemed to have utterly abandoned all sense of reason. He pulled on his coat and turned toward the door.
โAre you going for help?โ Bingley jumped to his feet.

I chose today’s music because when I was touring Uniacke Estate Museum this past Saturday (Yes, I was there again ๐ ), there was a piece of music Schubert on the music stand in the sitting room. This tour was a special, limited-number tour in which the ropes were down and we were guided into the rooms and behind closed doors and given the chance to see things up close and from different angles. We even got to peek inside drawers and cupboards.

Here is the music stand with the music which was right next to the early 1800s piano and then on the other side of the piano were several music books.
We also visited Sherbrooke Village, a Victorian village, at the start of the week.
Between the two trips, I spent some time in bed and visiting therapists because, over the previous weekend, my hip began giving me some trouble and continued to worsen. (I think it was one walk up a steep gravelly path too many ๐ ). Continue reading Music Monday: Schubert – Stรคndchen (Serenade)
