Hey, all! It’s July 25th. In just five months it will be Christmas! But why wait to treat yourself to some Christmas sweets? I’ve been included in this group of sweet and clean holiday romances that are free TODAY (and maybe tomorrow… check the price before you buy).
I could not pass up pairing this image with the excerpt below because there is some confusion involved and likely lots of whispering amongst those in the church waiting for a wedding to begin. 🙂 Although this excerpt is from near the end of A Very Mary Christmas, I don’t think it contains too many spoilers. In fact, it will likely raise more questions than it will answer. 😉
“Mr. Bennet,” said Whit just as everyone took their places at the front of the church. Mary watched, curiosity suffusing her, as her father nodded and, after whispering something to Mr. Darcy that made Mr. Darcy smile broadly, left his place and went to have a whispered conversation first with Mr. Whittemore and then Mr. Hammond, who could not contain his shock, no matter how he attempted to school his features. Then at the conclusion of the discussion, Nicholas rose, and with Whit and Fred trailing behind, slowly made his way to a side room at the front of the sanctuary.
“Mary,” her father stood before her. “Come.” He took her hand and led her toward the same room where Mr. Hammond had gone. “All will be well,” he assured her.
Mary glanced over her shoulder as she walked. “Why is Mr. Darcy coming with us?”
“Mr. Whittemore might need his assistance,” replied her father with a chuckle.
“I am very confused.” Surely, they were not to discuss Mr. Hammond’s decision now when her sisters stood at the front of the church and the few family and friends who had gathered awaited the ceremony.
She glanced at Jane and Elizabeth. Jane was dabbing at her eyes again as she had been all morning. Tears of happiness she had said. Elizabeth was smiling as if she understood what was happening, and she probably did since Mr. Darcy was somehow involved.
I thoroughly enjoyed last week’s video about recorders and Van Eyck, so this week, we’re going to do something similar. 🙂 I have two videos for you today. The first one is an informational video about the fortepiano, and then the second one is a musical selection that Miss Darcy might have played on her fortepiano.
And the music in the video is actually being played on the fortepiano, which means the piece of music sounds as it would have when Beethoven first composed it. Surely, I can’t be the only one who finds that cool, can I be? 🙂
I’ve paired the above musical videos with an excerpt from a book where Georgiana plays a key role in bringing her brother and Elizabeth together. This excerpt is from a scene where Georgiana and Darcy are about to have a disagreement.
Two Days Before Christmas is the first book in my Darcy Family Holidays series. Darcy has returned home from Netherfield sooner than expected, and he’s in quite the state. Georgiana thinks she knows what his trouble is and determines that she is going to give him the best Christmas present — an unbroken heart.
One Royal Holiday was a cute movie. While I do enjoy Hallmark movies, I’m not a big lover of their standard royalty trope ones, but this one veered off the standard path enough to make it interesting to me. I suppose that holds true for all their movies for me, I tend to like the non-standard formula ones better than the “more of the same” movies. However, we’re not talking about all Hallmark movies today. We’re just talking about this one in passing since it is the music video choice for today.
Now, why would I pick a Christmas song in April? No, it is not because snow has fallen in some places last week. Nor is it because we are one day less than eight months away from Christmas. 😀 It is because I have a book on sale (it’s on for 99cents) and wanted to feature it today in this post.
And I picked this particular video because it is Hallmark, and the story I have a few lines from today is written in Hallmark-Christmas-movie style. It has a sweet romance, a hero and heroine who slowly come to love each other, Christmas activities such as family traditions and shopping, and a couple of sisters who meddle in their sibling’s love lives.
Have you read it yet? If not, now’s a great time to pick up a copy.
