“Darcy, what is the meaning of this?” Lady Catherine waved at the dog who was sniffing her shoes. “I nearly fell! It is not a proper way to be greeted. Not at all. Go on with you. Leave me be,” she said to Dash, and Dash being the dog that he was, cocked his head to the side, looking up at her, and moved not an inch.

Leenie Brown

Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

  1. Oh, how delightful. Dash meets Lady Catherine. You choice of picture says it all about her attitude. Dash apparently is not impressed. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I can only say that Lady Catherine should be glad it was only his head that Dash cocked 🙂

  3. I love those Thomson illustrations! Even though I own perfectly delightful print versions of all of Austen’s works, I’ve been sorely tempted to add a Hugh Thomson illustrated Pride and Prejudice to my collection. That drawing looks exactly as I picture Lady Catherine!

    1. I love the illustrations as well! I’ve always preferred books with pictures in them. 🙂 And this is how I was imagining the Lady Catherine in tomorrow’s chapter — nose in the air, pushing her way into the house, and expecting to be given her way.

  4. I just love the Thomson illustrations. But I hadn’t seen the Lady Catherine print, so thank you Leenie. Oh I AM looking forward to tomorrow. 😀 How is your week going? Can you believe we’re already a week into February??

    1. You’re welcome, Michelle. It has been a busy week with all sorts of little things here and there, but so far, it had been a good week.(even if those busy things have made me fall a bit behind in my editing and writing. 🙂 ) Thanks for asking. I hope yours is going well, too. The year is slipping by rather quickly! Before you know it, these below freezing temps will be just a memory. 😀 (Actually, the weather has been pretty good the past two days but there is freezing rain forecast for Thursday night.)
