One Shaky Step Forward

I’ve done something new. I’ve published a non-fiction book. It’s a writing journal in which I have taken excerpts from several of my books (11 to be exact) and used them as illustrations for what the scripture tells us godly love is like.

While the book’s genre might be a new one for me to publish in, the parts of me that went into creating it are not. I can see how God joined together my years of writing, those spent teaching (both in school and church), my lifetime of exposure to Him through church attendance and schooling, and this in-born love for love stories with happy endings.

It’s a little book – less than 18,000 words in length and only 80 pages in regular 5×8 paperback format – and yet, it feels monumental and if I’m being honest (which I am), scary. 🙂

Save the Dates! (because you’re invited)

Calling all the Austen-Lovers among us to join me and my writer friends Zoe Burton and Rose Fairbanks, along with my alter-ego Annilee Nelson, in celebrating all things Austen next weekend.

This event will take place from Friday to Sunday and is a drop in as you can event. There will be posts from each of us authors and opportunities to win some Austen type prizes.

This celebration (of one of my favourite authors) is being hosted in the chat section of the Sigh-worthy Romance Tearoom’s Substack. You will have to subscribe to join the party because the chat section of our Substack is a private, subscribers-only area.

To subscribe to the SWR Tearoom, go to this link. When you get there, look for the subscribe button. Click it and enter an email address. That’s all there is to it.

You will receive a welcome email, and then, every time we create a regular monthly post or an in-between one that we don’t want you to miss, you’ll get an email.

My friends and I are new to Substack, but I believe you will also get notified of all new posts in the party chat as long as we remember to click the right thing. 🙂

There’s also a Substack app if you prefer using a phone or tablet for these things, but that’s not necessary as it can be accessed from a computer browser just fine.

That’s it! I hope to see you there, and please, feel free to invite your friends if you wish. While the event will be held in a private setting, there’s no limit on how many can join.

Have a great weekend!

Leenie

NOW AVAILABLE: An Accomplished Lady (of the best sort)

Today is the day! An Accomplished Lady (of the best sort) is now available everywhere! (Get it here)

By proving his friend wrong, he might just make everything right.

This excerpt is from chapter one. Hurst is not wrong. This Bingley will do his best to get what he wants!

For the better part of an afternoon at Netherfield, Charles Bingley has listened to his sister promote herself to his best friend, Fitzwilliam Darcy. And for the same amount of time, he’s observed his friend trying not to give in to his desire to admire Miss Elizabeth Bennet. When the discussion turns to the qualifications of an accomplished lady, he listens closely and knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that marrying such a lady would only bring sorrow to his friend.

After the ladies have left the room, he attempts to address the issue in a friendly sort of manor. However, when Darcy goes a step too far in sharing his opinions of the lady Bingley loves, friendly tactics are tossed aside in favour of a more direct and calculated approach.

An Accomplished Lady (of the Best Sort) is a novelette of just over 17,000 words and is the sixth installment in Leenie Brown’s Teatime Tales Collection of Austen-inspired quick reads. If you’re looking for a romantic and entertaining escape from the everyday, then you’ll enjoy this story where a determined Bingley does what he must to secure not only his own happily ever after, but also that of his friend.

So put the kettle on, download your copy of An Accomplished Lady (of the Best Sort), and join Bingley and Hurst as they poke, prod, and arrange for Darcy to follow his heart and marry the right sort of accomplished lady.

Twenty-Two Leenie Titles are FREE on Smashwords…

…and the rest are all 50% off until January 1, 2023

A couple of weeks ago, my catalogue of books (except for the five in Kindle Unlimited) were added to the Smashwords store. I was going to let you know about this new place to find my books in my next Saturday Broadsheet.

But then…

I was asked if I wanted to have ALL of my books and boxsets included in the Smashwords Year End Ebook Sale.

I said, “Yes!” and selected the 50% off option.

This means that all my books priced above $0.99 are half-price from December 15, 2022 to January 1, 2023, and all my books that are priced at $0.99 are reduced to FREE for the same time period.

THIS LINK will take you to my Smashwords Author page that has all my books listed on it.

THIS LINK will just take you to front page of the Year End Promotion so you can search by various genres, price points, and authors.

Here’s one more link that I will mention simply because it is the season for giving.

THIS LINK is all about how to gift ebooks purchased on Smashwords. Maybe you want to give some as gifts, or maybe, you want to share this link and some book titles with those who want to know what you’d like for Christmas. 😉

Happy Reading!

Never skip a step

Hey, everyone.

I hope you’re weekend is off to an ok start. Mine has started with a message that the link in the Saturday Broadsheet post (You can find that post here) was not working.

It has been fix! So, I thought I post this so that all who subscribe to my blog and maybe tried to read earlier and couldn’t would know that you can read the Broadsheet now.

Apparently, I forgot to hit enter when adding the link last night when creating the Broadsheet post. AND because it was late (11pm), I decided to skip the preview and check step. I had created lots of these posts. I knew what I was doing. I didn’t need to check.

Yeah, right!

I should have checked and prevented frustration for those who tried to read and couldn’t.

Sorry! Hope the rest of your day is good.

Leenie

P.S. Yes, I did check the link above and it works. 🙂
