Send summer off with a weekend of reading

This weekend in Canada is Labour Day weekend, just like it is in the US. It’s a three-day weekend (for some) that marks the end of summer because, here in Nova Scotia, school begins after Labour Day.

To celebrate the changing of seasons from carefree summer to scheduled and routined autumn, I have made the first three books in my Marrying Elizabeth series free! They are free all weekend long (until Sept 2)!

And because I had them free, I added them to a multi-author promotion via Bookfunnel — just so there are a few more long weekend read options for you to pick from.

All the books in this promotion are supposed to be sweet and wholesome romances and FREE today and tomorrow. Yes, that’s a day shorter than mine, so don’t delay in checking it out!

FREE books? Yes, please. (It’s a JAFF bonanza of freebies)

I am sharing this a little early for those of you who live on my side of the international date line. I do know that today is not Friday for us. 🙂 I wasn’t planning to share about this promotion until tomorrow which is when it will be Friday for me.

However, I realized, about half an hour ago because that’s how my brain works, that in Australia, it’s already Friday. So, I’m sending this a little early just to give our fellow readers from the other side of the date line time to load up on books.

** While the books listed are only guaranteed to be free for one day, I know some authors have set them free for a bit longer just to accommodate all the various time zones and to allow for some of us who don’t open emails as quickly as others do. (Yeah, that’s me. I look at email once a day, so if it’s not in my inbox when I look, I’m not seeing it until the next day at the earliest.) So some or many or even all of the books might already be free, and if you find this email a day late, give the books a try. You may still be able to download many of them.

I hope you find some fun reads in this lot of books. Maybe, you’ll even discover a new-to-you author in the process.

One Shaky Step Forward

I’ve done something new. I’ve published a non-fiction book. It’s a writing journal in which I have taken excerpts from several of my books (11 to be exact) and used them as illustrations for what the scripture tells us godly love is like.

While the book’s genre might be a new one for me to publish in, the parts of me that went into creating it are not. I can see how God joined together my years of writing, those spent teaching (both in school and church), my lifetime of exposure to Him through church attendance and schooling, and this in-born love for love stories with happy endings.

It’s a little book – less than 18,000 words in length and only 80 pages in regular 5×8 paperback format – and yet, it feels monumental and if I’m being honest (which I am), scary. 🙂

Calling all the Austen-Lovers among us to join me and my writer friends Zoe Burton and Rose Fairbanks, along with my alter-ego Annilee Nelson, in celebrating all things Austen next weekend.

This event will take place from Friday to Sunday and is a drop in as you can event. There will be posts from each of us authors and opportunities to win some Austen type prizes.

This celebration (of one of my favourite authors) is being hosted in the chat section of the Sigh-worthy Romance Tearoom’s Substack. You will have to subscribe to join the party because the chat section of our Substack is a private, subscribers-only area.

To subscribe to the SWR Tearoom, go to this link. When you get there, look for the subscribe button. Click it and enter an email address. That’s all there is to it.

You will receive a welcome email, and then, every time we create a regular monthly post or an in-between one that we don’t want you to miss, you’ll get an email.

My friends and I are new to Substack, but I believe you will also get notified of all new posts in the party chat as long as we remember to click the right thing. 🙂

There’s also a Substack app if you prefer using a phone or tablet for these things, but that’s not necessary as it can be accessed from a computer browser just fine.
