“Lucy, I am here to offer comfort to you, not garner your praise.” He (Philip) chuckled.
“Passing on my father’s praise gives me comfort. It makes it seem less like he is gone.”
“Then, I shall attempt to receive his compliments graciously.” He leaned back and looked toward the grave next to which she had been kneeling. “You said you were sharing news with your father. Is it anything with which I could be of assistance?”
She tilted her head and gave him a searching look. She had promised her father that she would speak to each of the men on his list. However, she had intended to do so with her Aunt Tess present, not while alone in a churchyard.

Yes, Lucy had to be rescued from Wickham and her leacherous uncle!
She was in a difficult place, but thankfully, there was Philip (and Darcy) to help her.
OMG! That uncle was horrid. I still shudder from that story. Whew! Lovely picture. It looks quite peaceful. Blessings, stay safe and healthy.
He was! She definitely needed saving from him.
I just love that painting. It’s been too long since I read that series, I seriously need to reread it. But then, I want to reread so many of yours. I just can’t keep up with all the books I want to reread, let alone the new ones out there.
I feel the same way about my own books. LOL There are so many I’d like to revisit, but there are also the stories that are still waiting to be told 🙂 (And we won’t even get into how many other author’s stories I have on that want to read list lol)
