I really doubt that Wes's room was either this small or this full of furniture, but the bed is close enough to the door for Wes to listen to a conversation just outside that door -- a conversation that starts like this:
~*~*~
“Oh, Mr. Darcy!”
Wes opened one eye and peeked at the door to his room which was partially open. Was that Darcy at the door?
“Good day, Miss Lydia. How might I be of service?”
Apparently, Darcy was at the door. Wes groaned and rubbed his aching head. Two days in bed and the blasted thing still hurt – despite his mother’s best attempts to do him in with potions from the apothecary.
“I was wondering if you had any friends.”
Wes chuckled at Miss Lydia’s inquiry. He’d give anything to see Darcy attempt to not look offended at such a comment.

Confounding Caroline ~ Delighting Mrs. Bennet ~ Loving Lydia
Actually, this room appears to be quite cheerful! Poor Wes. He’s in such a muddle about Lydia and who he is as a man.
I think I would like such a room. 🙂 Oh, he is, and it’s about to get a bit more muddled.
W’hat has Wes done now that has given him a headache that has lasted two days? Is he ill? And Lydia’s question about whether Darcy had any friends… how strange. I know… we are seeing this out of context; however, it is funny in a way. This could very easily be Wes’ view from his room. As his childhood room, it would be smaller. If you want the fledgling to leave the next… make it uncomfortable That is a beautiful room. They appear to be making good use of it. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, he is ill from riding in the rain. The reason for Lydia’s question is not going to make Wes feel all that much better. 😉
