Welcome to the weekend. I hope your week went well. We ended ours with some snow and ice. Here’s all that has been happening in my busy writing life this week.
Writing Life
A New Story: Remember how I was hoping to get some planning done on a third writing project? Well, I did — but just a tiny bit. However, it was enough for me to start exploring the idea by writing the first two chapters. Here is what I can tell you about it at present:
- This story will be a Darcy and Elizabeth story.
- It begins at the Meryton Assembly.
- It has more of a fun rom-com feel rather than a dramatic romance feel.
Finally, a new title: So, along with writing two chapters of that fun, shiny new story, I also moved ahead one chapter in His Irreplaceable Belle and Marrying Elizabeth (book 5) which, in my notes, is now tentatively named Cherishing Kitty, and I wrote and scheduled my Austen Author’s post for this coming Tuesday.
Publishing News
By this time next week, this collection of five novellas and one novel will be in Kindle Unlimited. That means I will be removing all the following titles from all vendors except for Amazon as is required by Amazon to enroll a book in the Kindle Unlimited program.
Unravelling Mr. Darcy, Becoming Entangled, Enticing Miss Darcy, Mr. Darcy’s Comfort, Master of Longbourn, Assessing Mr. Darcy, A Dash of Darcy and Companions Cottage Collection 2
These books will return to my non-Amazon vendors after the 90-day Kindle Unlimited term is over. You can find a listing of all the Dash of Darcy and Companion books at this link. (Only the ones listed above will be in KU. The first Cottage Collection has already had its KU term.)
If Cottage Collection 2 is entering Kindle Unlimited that means there is a collection exiting Kindle Unlimited as well.
This is your last week to download The Choices series with your Kindle Unlimited subscription. The KU term for this book expires on Sunday, February 16, 2020.
You can find the Choices omnibus at this link.
Book Promotions
There is one more week to add Listen to Your Heart (ebook edition) to your virtual library for just $0.99. This price reduction ends on February 15, 2020. Remember, this sale is across all sales channels and in all regions of the world with all currencies being reduced.
Book Review
This week, I have chosen KarenL’s review of the Choices Series ominbus as it is the most recent review listed on the Canadian Amazon site and because this is the last week to get this book as part of your KU subscription.
Here’s what I love:
I love that Karen loves Anne’s story because as stated in the review, I made a few changes to Anne’s character (which not everyone is going to enjoy — just check out some of the other reviews on this omnibus or on Her Heart’s Choice and you’ll see what I mean. 🙂 And that’s ok. Not everybody likes the same things.)
So, how did I change Anne? In Pride and Prejudice, we are given just a brief glimpse of Anne de Bourgh. When I was writing this series, I took the fact that Anne is sickly and twisted it. In Her Heart’s Choice, she’s not all that sickly unless she needs to avoid her mother. 🙂 She is, however, her mother’s daughter in that she is demanding and will arrange things to suit herself — even if it means placing an advertisement in the paper for a husband.
Here’s why I love it:
I think it is important to know this about Anne so that if you’re not really wanting to read about an Anne who is feisty and opinionated (and terrified of being hurt), then you’ll know that this book in the Choices Series is one you might not want to read.
HOWEVER,
you should also know that at the end of the last book in this series is where you will find an epilogue that gives a glimpse into the futures of all the couples in this series and where you’ll get to meet or hear about some of their children, as well as learn about a special connection to the second necklace, which plays an important role in this series, when it is presented by one character to another at a wedding breakfast.
Thank you, KarenL, for reading and reviewing this book.
Something Extra for Last
I shared this fun quiz with my Leenie’s Sweeties Facebook Group on Friday morning. If you’re in any of the Jane Austen related groups on Facebook, you might have seen it elsewhere since I saw it in one of those groups, though I am not sure which one it was.
I actually got Mr. George Knightley (or as I like to lovingly call him, Mr. Know It All Bossy Pants) as my Jane Austen Hero Soulmate.
A couple of years ago, I started a Society6 store called Bonny Lass Creatives. This year, I have adding one new design or product to my store every week or two as a goal. I have set this goal because combining quotes from books with digital papers which I have purchased and clipart that is included free for use in the program I use to create these graphics is relaxing for me, and I need to relax more. 🙂
This week, the result of this relaxation time was the creation of the card above that features this quote from Listen to Your Heart, and I think would make a lovely card for an anniversary or wedding: There is no better day than the day you marry the one for whom your heart yearns. [Do you know who said this in the book?]
I share these creations on Facebook and Instagram. In fact, I have a Facebook page set up for my Society6 store that you can find and like here. I also hope to get a page set up on my blog where I can display some of the products that are available. I just haven’t figured out the best way to do that yet. 🙂
As you can see it was a productive week, which feels very good. 🙂 I’ll be back on Monday, of course, with a story excerpt and a song, but in the meantime, I’d love to hear your results if you take the Austen Hero Soulmate quiz or if you think you know who said the quote used on the card or if you just want to say hi and talk about something else.
Have a wonderful weekend!
